Summary • Typically, Business is broken into 5 Functional Areas and Information Systems can be designed for just one of the areas. • But this is not always the case… • Example: A Robust TPS may be used in Accounting, Marketing, and Finance. • Also, a complete functional system may not fit into one of the six categories • Example: An Accounting Systems is both a TPS and an MIS.
