Expectations 2012 • Uniform • Arrival • Neat casual trousers/ shorts • GFUL attire top/ jacket • Match Gear • Ensure well presented • Purchase new socks/ shirts if required • Shoes/ boots should predominantly be white/ light colour • Bike shorts should be tan skin colour or cut so to not be visible below short line

Expectations 2012 • Administration • Reports • Responsibility of all officiating umpires- check them closely • Must be correctly filled out • Must follow correct process of notification • Video Review- inform coach of potential review • Send off- Red/ Yellow cards • Flashing light indicates timekeepers have registered send off- keep holding up card until this signal has been activated

Expectations 2012 • Administration • Match Reports • Must be legible • Ensure only valuable information is listed- avoid trivial responses • Responsibility of all officiating umpires- check them closely • Vote Cards • Must be legible & fully filled out • Responsibility of all officiating umpires- check them closely

Expectations 2012 • Teamwork • Prior Match • Meeting points- travel & phone calls • Game plans (tags/ tactics etc) • Handover points • Ground conditions • Physical Preparation- 3qtr time • Team coaches/ captains • Admin- Paperwork • Post Match • 360 • Admin- Reports/ Match report etc • Clubroom • During game • Handovers/ Chop outs • Communication • Votes • Tactics • Decision making

  7. Expectations 2012 • Umpire Systems • Shot on Goal • Each umpire will play a role in officiating shot on goal • Controlling umpire set up and back off • Mid Zone patrol 5m protected area • Far End Zone move to centre of ground • Adjust accordingly for shots on goal from pocket

Expectations 2012 • Umpire Systems • Out of Zone Free Kicks • Should only be awarded for blatant missed free kicks in the following categories • Head high contact • Holding the man off ball • Throws • In the back- violent/ blatant missed/ unsighted • Never should an umpire award an out of zone free kick on an interpretational free kick

Expectations 2012 • Umpire Systems • Handovers • The controlling umpire will and must maintain officiating the contest until a clear handover is available. • An umpires duty is to officiate the contest, not to look for a handover at any opportunity • End Zone Depth • Remain no more than 30- 35m from goal and adjust accordingly • Ensure you get side on to play/ deep in pocket to award a score

  10. Expectations 2012 • Umpire Systems • Vision (EZ and BTI) • Ensure vision is on players, not ball • Boundary Throw In’s • Ensure you turn back and watch player set ups. Leave ball for boundary umpire/ players • End Zone • Watch the players leading to the ball from goal square & adjust accordingly. Do not watch ball in mid zone.

Expectations 2012 • Post Match • Clubroom attendance • Umpires are strongly encouraged to spend 10- 15min inside the clubrooms post match. • If we want to be seen as an integral part of the game, we should make sure we do not act as if we are not by leaving the match by the side exit. • Answer questions. Socialise where possible.
