Introduction and Background • What is FIXM? • A data interchange format for sharing information about flights throughout their lifecycle. • A UML model of the flight information that will contain relationships and incorporate the use of standards for the definition of basic data types • FIXM Benefits • Interoperability • Harmonization • Data Management • Flight Object (FO) • An extensible and dynamic collection of data elements that describes an individual flight. • A common reference for system information about the flight • Flight Object Exchange Service (FOXS) • The technical or application infrastructure required to exchange standardized flight data. • Used for overall support of the FO, potentially including areas such as FO services, read/write privileges, security and encryption, performance, etc. • A collection of functions distributed amongst multiple international systems

FIXM Version 1.0 • Released publically August 17, 2012 • Focuses on data elements that can express the ICAO 2012 Flight Plan • Includes fields 19 – 22. • Contains first elements from ED-133 • Additional items planned for future FIXM releases. • The FIXM 1.0 documentation covers the following areas: • Primer • Data Dictionary • Developers Manual • UML Models and Schemas http://www.fixm.aero

Schedule • Major Activities Underway: • Version 2.0 kickoff just completed. • Complete development and release of FIXM v1.1 with hazardous cargo. • Efforts being progressed with our partners and in conjunction with IATA • Planning efforts for Flight Object “mini-global” demonstration • Builds on earlier cross-Atlantic and recent cross-Pacific demonstrations
