English and Drama BA Hons • Fantastic time at University • Heavily involved in Drama societies (on the committee of WatchThis 2007 – 2008) • Although no obvious career path, plenty of transferable skills • Public speaking • Independent learning • Organisation and people management • Time management • Budget management

Additional Activities • On the committee for the BUAFTAs 2009 - 2010 • Presented at USF • Volunteered to help at events/worked as part of cross-office project groups • Part of the ‘Future Faces’, part of the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce • Initiated new projects across the office • Dual Approach • Fundraise For Us

Career Plan • Managing a CASE Educational Fundraising intern from September to give me line-management skills • Working with the Major Gift team on fundraising approaches to develop my fundraising skills • Developing staff, student and parent fundraising programmes • All of the above either fit into my role, or have been added to my role and I manage my time to ensure that I can do them as well as maintain expected standards in my current role

Top tips • Get involved! • Think about how to build upon/improve current practises within the office • Take initiative and be brave • Be confident in your abilities and think about your role creatively • Think about what you can do beyond the office to get transferable skills • Update your CV regularly
