  1. What we’ve discovered so far… Perfume particles diffuse throughout the room due to random collisions with air particles that send them a variety of ways. Due to pure chance, the entire room will eventually be filled with perfume particles because of these collisions

  2. Hot vs. Cold Diffusion Food coloring particles diffuse faster through hot water due to the fact that hot water particles move faster and have more energy. Because hot water particles have more energy, they can transfer more energy to food coloring particles which sends them throughout the liquid faster

  3. Balloon in Liquid Nitrogen Because the liquid nitrogen is so cold, energy is transferred from particles in balloon to liquid nitrogen. Due to this, particles in balloon lose energy and get closer and closer to each other—reducing volume When balloon is taken out of liquid nitrogen, particles in air transfer their energy to particles in balloon. Now that particles in balloon have more energy, they start to separate from each other rapidly. Particles have enough energy to hit balloon walls and cause balloon to expand

  4. Expansion of a solid Fire gives energy to solid particles. This added energy allows them to escape from each other’s attraction by increasing the distance between each other. This increase in distance between particles results in an increase in volume of the ball itself
