  1. WELCOME TO PHYSICAL EDUCATIONMS. MITCHELLMy mission in teaching physical education is to see my students being successful and having fun while learning to be healthy and fit.

  2. PE is Positively Excellent • The Varner Physical Education (PE) Department would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to another exciting new school year. Sue Mitchell, Physical Education Specialist, will be your PE teacher. I am looking forward to an awesome year at Varner with your children. • Please make sure you fill out and sign the Physical Education form letting us know if your child has any health issues we should be aware of.

  3. Sick or Injured • If your child is sick or injured, please send a note telling us what their limitations are. A written note from the parents may excuse a child for up to five days. Longer periods of time require a physician’s note that states the length of time before normal participation may resume. Your physician may fax this note to the school at 770-222-3777.

  4. Appropriate dress for PE • Every day school dress is acceptable for participating in physical education activities. • Girls need to wear shorts under dresses/skirts to allow full participation. Boys need to have their pants pulled up to their waist with a belt if necessary. • In order to avoid injury, we do ask the students to wear tennis shoes, or laced, buckled, or Velcro rubber soled shoes. • Please do not wear flip flops, sandals, crocs, shoes without backs, dress shoes, boots or tennis shoes with wedges to physical education.

  5. Acceptable Shoes

  6. Miscellaneous • Your child may bring; • a water bottle for PE filled with water only. • a hat or visor and sunglasses for when we go outside. • It is very important to wear sunscreen everyday! • We do not go outside if the temperature is below 35 degrees including wind chill.

  7. Contact information • If you have any questions please; • email me – susan.mitchell@cobbk12.org • call me at 770-222-3775. • My blog - http://varner.typepad.com/jordan/ • My website - http://teacherweb.com/GA/VarnerElementary/Jordan/index.html
