MOAG • MOAG established in 2006. • For the development of organic agricultural products by means of 3rd party certification. • It is Voluntary not mandatory. • MOAG has own standards and guidelines which are equivalent to internationally accepted standards, almost the same as • EEC 834/2007 and EEC 1235/2008 and also with ISO 65.

  5. Organic Agriculture (Key Requirements) • Maintain soil fertility • No GMOs/ synthetic chemical inputs • Product traceability • Use of organic fertilizers and inputs • Conversion period

  6. Traceability Product Traceability • The ability to trace a product back through the chain of production from the consumer to the producer. • This can allow for quick recall in case of contamination. • This requires labeling and documentation throughout the supply chain.

  7. Future Plan MOAG will engage with international organizations for transaction Certificates in the future. e.gIFOAM accredited organization. Also expect for the public-private partnership body for the National Program.(PPP)

  8. Basic requirements For the Organic Farm Soil analysis results and water quality test is essential. Conversion period means:- The time between the start of organic management and certification of crops. Usually it should be (3) years and sometimes (1)year, depends on the land status and type of crops. Inspection shall be carried out reasonable interval before the first harvest. Traceability records are essential and such principles, standards and procedures must be in line with the SOP.

Planning for ( management plan) organic production. • Verification ( certifying to )all of the above ( this includes use of organic seeds, auditing, traceability of products and labeling for the market), and • Maintaining organic integrity in the processing systems used for organically produced products.

  10. Modus operandi • Registration at MOAG office 1.The farmers/farmer with his own consent to drive his farm under the organic management system. 2. MOAG advise to make soil analysis together with water quality test for his farm use . (at reputable and competent laboratory.) • Land used status and area must be documented. • Physical examination has been made by MOAG for the location . • Having received the acceptable results, the farmer has to enter the contract/MOU with MOAG, that he will follow the MOAG guidelines.

  11. INSPECTION 6. MOAG permitted to use its LOGO depends on the conditions of whether conversion or full-fledged organic. 7. MOAG issues the organic Guideline manual to the farmer and in case if necessary, special instructions were given to the farmer for specific purposes. • Inspection sub committee made at least two times for single harvest . • Inspection has been made for the entire farm which was registered under organic management system of MOAG.

  12. AUDITING The inspector must produce the written report for his finding ( as is- where-is)together with the electronic documents to the auditing committee . The auditing committee check the finding and evaluate whether there is discrepancies, variances , differences and malpractices occurred or not, and some cases which are not in line with the guidences. The final report ……. Submitted to the advisory council for the final decision.

CERTIFICATION a • As soon as the farmer start to implement its organic management plan it has right to receive the organic conversion certificate for the first harvest and also for the second harvest depend on its land status. • After the successful completion of the third year of organic cultivation MOAG will issue the full-fledged certified organic cert: for the respective crops.

  14. HRD/R&D • Since last eight years MOAG ………. Organic Forum and Seminars Workshop for Organic Farming methods and Training for new farmers. Application of Basic Bio-technology, and soil microbiology.

  15. Organic ? • The Agricultural Technique which is “Inorganic Chemical Free (OR) Restricted utilization of Inorganic Chemical in Agriculture “ • Naturally grown without using any inputs. Cannot be recognized as “ORGANIC” Because it is not fully correct.

CERTIFIED ORGANIC • The terms organic which has been recognized internationally , among the consumers and traders must be matched with the following requirements as a minimum in addition to the previous criteria. • Operation has been done under Standard Procedures. (SOP) • Proper Management System including check and balance and traceability records. • Bias free Third Party Verification / Certification
