  1. David A Man after God’s Own Heart (1 Sam. 13:13-14)

  2. Acts 13:22 “And when He [God] had removed him [Saul], He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, 'I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.‘”

  3. David Loved God’s Word • He loved it because: • It protects him from sin (Psa. 119:11) • It revives him in affliction (Psa. 119:50) • It gives him peace of mind (Psa. 119:165)

  4. David Loved God’s Word Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. (Psa. 1:1-3)

  5. David Loved to Pray • He loved to pray because: • He knew God listened and answered (Psa. 116:1-2) • God had greatly blessed him(Psa. 116:12-13) • Prayer brought God close to him (Psa. 145:18)

  6. David Loved to Pray I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD," and You forgave the iniquity of my sin. For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You in a time when You may be found; surely in a flood of great waters they shall not come near him. You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.(Psa. 32:5-7)

  7. David Loved to Praise God • He loved to praise God because: • Of His righteous judgments (Psa. 116:164) • Of His greatness and lovingkindness (Psa. 95:1-7) • He was determined to praise God with his dying breath (Psa. 104:33)

  8. David Loved to Praise God Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; For it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful. (Psa. 147:1)

  9. David Loved Unity Among Brethren • Psa. 133:1 - Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! • Reflected in his relationship with Jonathan (1 Sam. 18:1) • Knew the pain of division (2 Sam. 13)

  10. Acts 13:22 “And when He [God] had removed him [Saul], He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, 'I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.‘”

  11. Jn. 19:30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
