It borders Russia to the north and the People's Republic of China to the south, east and west. Land Area: 603,909 sq miles Mongolia is the 6th largest country in Asia and the 18th largest country in the world. MONGOLIA

  3. A dry climate with short, mild summers and long, severe winters. In the depths of the winter temperatures can remain below 0˚ for several weeks. Spring brings unsettled weather, strong winds and wild fluctuations in temperature. Summers are warm across the country, particularly in the Gobi Desert where temperatures can reach 104˚F.
