  1. SWW Reflection By: Aya El-Husseini 6D

  2. Journey • We took the Karwa buses to SWW. We left at about 7:20 and arrived at SWW at about 9:00. During the bus ride my friends and I chatted and sang songs to pass the time. It felt like a really long way but we were laughing the whole way. The teachers on the bus with us were Mrs. Schwaberow and Ms. Beaton and the 6D girls (my friends and i) were on the same bus as the 6C class.

  3. Introduction SWW • On Sunday the 13th of March 2011, 6D, 6B and 6C went to SWW. We had three lessons; Arts, Humanities and Science. We would have lunch after the second activity and we would be at school at about 2:30 p.m. The four teachers joining us were Ms. Beaton for the arts, Mrs. Schwaberow for the humanities, and Mr. White and Ms. Arrora for the science. The groups were us in our classes. It was in Dr. Saif’s Environmental Club campus in Al-khor.

  4. Activity 1: Humanities • The Humanities lesson was the first one of the day. In the Humanities part, we used a GPS to find 10 orange boxes in the desert. Inside the boxes we found a clip that we stamped on our paper to show we found that clue. We were in partners. This was a great part and I felt I was principled because I was fair when I let me and my partner take turns using the GPS and leading. Then, with our same partners we had to gather objects in the desert to spell out the word “Environment”. My partner Seba and I made a great team, and we got 7 things.

  5. Activity 2: Science The science part was great and scary at the same time. We took a walk in the desert and crossed rivers. First, in the desert we looked and examined the inhabitants in different places. Then we went to the more wet part and crossed two rivers. We found many crabs there and a GIGANTIC one in the water. The girls (including me) were terrified when the boys started chasing us with crabs. But in the end, it was a great nature walk and I thought I was risk-taker when I finally crossed the rivers.

  6. Lunch • After activity 2 we had lunch time. This gave us some time to relax and talk with our friends before the next activity. I ate my food and talked with my friends. We exchanged thoughts. In the end we all agreed that even though we were all tired, it is a really great trip and we had learned a lot and had fun so far. We were all excited to attend the next activity.

  7. Activity 3: Art • Art was the last activity. This was where we had to create a carpet in the sand. We had to use buckets of water, tools and our imagination. We gathered shells and rocks from the shore to decorate the carpet. We also put hot spices on top of the carpet to add color. It was great because we had to make the carpet with our hands and design it out of the top of our heads. I felt like I was a Communicator because I shared my ideas to my group and asked them to bring what I told them.

  8. AOI Environments • There was always a link to Environments. In the Humanities part, we were using our environment to locate places. In the Art part we were making a carpet out of the things in our environment. In the Science part we were looking at the environment and the things that live in it and how humans effect it.

  9. Overall Conclusion • In the end it was all a great trip and was very educational. Some things in the sand carpet worked and others didn’t. The crabs in the nature walk scared me but the lizards didn’t. Finally, the team communication in the GPS search worked but the hill climb to find a clue didn’t. I wish I could do this trip again even though I got really tired in the end.
