About LVGS - League Philosophy • Provide a safe environment • Exhibit good sportsmanship – players, coaches, & parents • Teach Respect - of other players, coaches, & umpires • Focus on continued improvement, not on winning! • Learn to play as a team • Help girls improve their skills • Help girls have success(es) • Have Fun! • “The worst thing one can do is make a 10 year old feel like a failure if they lose!”Coach Scott Whitlock, Kennesaw State, 900+ wins, 2 NCAA DII titles, program now DI program

About LVGS • LVGS a member Lenape Valley Recreational Council (LVRC) • Started in 1965, the association is dedicated to developing the qualities of sportsmanship, integrity and self-confidence in our children.  Participants learn the fundamentals of sports while the rules of good conduct are stressed and self-discipline is encouraged • LVGS is a part of LVRC is a 501(c)3 (Tax Exempt) organization • We share the ‘Not for Profit’ administrative costs (#23-6463350) with LV Football & Cheer, LV Basketball, LV Baseball, & CB West Ice Hockey • Receive money from United Way contributions #2282 • Play by ASA (Amateur Softball Association) Rules (w/modifications) • Helmets with cages & chin straps are required • Divisions every 2 years, based upon age as of December 31st • Each Registered Player has ASA Insurance • LVGS Plays against VIGS Teams • Valley Intercommunity Girls Softball • 10U & 12U Sunday Select and 14U+ intramural program compete against VIGS teams • VIGS includes Deep Run (Hilltown), DAA (Doylestown), Montgomery, North Penn (Hatfield), Nor-Gwyn (Lansdale), Palisades, Souderton, Towamencin, RASA (Quakertown), Upper Perkiomen (Pennsburg) • 100% Volunteer Organization

About LVGS -Volunteers • League Meetings are held every other month throughout the year • January, March, May, July, Sept (?), & November • Meetings are 8pm on the 2nd Thursday of the month, at Borghi’s • Borghi’s Restaurant and Doug’s Barber Shop support LVGS (and LVRC) – Please support both! • We want ‘new’ volunteers. About LVGS – ‘Just Softball’ • Intramural Program – Spring • 6U, 8U, 10U, 12(13U) - intramural in house, some community play (DAA, Deep Run) • 14U plays VIGS teams • 23U – June & July @ RASA, College women • Sunday Select – Spring (Intramural Players only) • 10U, & 12U – competes against VIGS teams (8U next year?) • Tryouts (Feb/Mar), Sunday Games, Additional Cost to Play • Clinics – Winter, Spring & Fall • 8U move ups, 10U, & up • Intramural Program – Fall - Registration opens in June • Games only (practices at team discretion) • Completes against local teams • Travel Programs ‘Fury’ – August to July Season www,furytravelsoftball.org • Starts at 12U, Currently 12U, 2-14U, & 18U teams Tryouts in August • Practice & play year round • Commitment & cost • Attracts players from other leagues; the ultimate ‘Free Agency’

LVGS Spring Divisions - Equipment • Provided by LVGS • 6U - Tee Shirt & Visor • 8U to 13U – Tee Shirt, Visor, Pants, Socks • 14U & Sunday Select – Sleeveless top w/name, Pants, Socks • All ages – Helmets, Bats, Catchers gear, softballs • Player Provided • Glove – treat with Vaseline • Optional • Bat – size is important; cost too! • Helmet • Supporting Equipment (@North Branch Park) • Shed – Batting Cage behind • 3 pitching machines (electric @ pavilion #1 & field 2 building) • 1 Indoor pitching machine • training ladders, extra supplies • Field Boxes – 1st Aid Box • Practice balls, wiffles, tees, cones, field supplies, ump equip

  11. “How You Play the Game Awards” • Most Improved Player – awarded to the player that improves the most during the season • Hustle Award – awarded to the player that plays hard all the time • Heart Award – awarded to the player that encourages fellow players, demonstrates sportsmanship and keeps trying • Voted on by the Players (not parents) • Awarded in 8U/10U/13U & Sunday Select • Awarded on Field Day – A “celebration of the Season”

LVGS - Beyond 2013 • 6U • LVGS is looking to “skin” a small field (cost ~$7,000) • 8U • Fall Program in 2011, no in 2012, 2013? • Sunday Select spring 2014? • 10U & Up • Looking for additional Field(s) • NO’s - BC Parks, Plumstead Christian (Peace Valley) School, Highpoint • Cost, excluding Capital Improvements • LVRC - $5 increase in 2013 • New Britain Township rates steady since 2011 • CBSD rates increased in 2012 - $25/day/field
