  2. HOMEPLATE • You can run through home plate and not be out (same goes for baseball)

  3. 1st base • You can also run through 1st base just like home plate • Good catchers are good for 1st base

  4. 2nd base • The 2nd base woman needs to be 1 foot away from the base for a fair game

  5. 3rd base • The 3rd base woman has to be like 2nd, 1 foot away

  6. Pitchers mound • The mound is flat not like a bump. Baseball’s mound is like a bump. NOT SOFTBALL

  7. Measurments • Kids under 10 : bases are 55ft (16.77 meters) • Home plate and pitchers mound:35ft (10.67 meters) • Edge of the outfield: 150ft (43.77meters) • An adult field : 265ft (80.77meters) • Batters box: 7ft long 3ft wide

  8. Innings • There are 7 innings in softball there are 9 in base ball • When you have had a chance to bat and score that is 1 inning

  9. The slides • There are 5 slides: • Bent leg (used for young players) • Stand up • Decoy • Hook • Head first

  10. Throwing and Catching • Your body should be toward the target you are throwing at when throwing • Over hand throwing goes long distances • Relay throw is also called “hitting the cut off man” • You need to move under a fly ball to catch it

  11. Bat 3 parts of a bat • Knob • Reach • Barrel 3 grips for a bat • Power • Regular • Choke

  12. Softball History • The first game: 1887 • Had many names: kittenball, Mushball, Indoor-Outdoor, Playgroundball, and more • In 1926 it was named softball • 1933 was the year a meeting was held to set the rules

  13. Players • There are 9 players on a team if fewer than that team has to forfiet

  14. Infielders • They defend the area around the bases

  15. Outfielders • These individuals “back up” the infielders

  16. Equipment • The equipment used in softball are: gloves, mits, batting helmets, and catchers protective equpiment

  17. Pitch • The wind up pitch is the most used in the sport

  18. The reasoning • The reason I chose softball is because I love the sport
