Flood Strategy • Goal 5 - Mitigate the Potential Loss of Life and Property from Flooding • 5.1 - Reduce the number of current and future structures in the floodplain. • 5.2 - Mitigate flooding of structures and infrastructure. • 5.3 - Increase public awareness of flood mitigation. • 5.4 - Improve the effectiveness of flood insurance programs.

Project 5.1.1 Encourage jurisdictions to pursue mitigation projects for repetitive loss structures or any severe repetitive loss properties identified in the future. • Non-Planning Project • Score = 26 (Low) • State Priority = High • Schedule = On-going • Responsible Agency = Disaster & Emergency Services, DNRC-Water • Progress Made: Deer Lodge & Missoula Counties have HMGP acquisition projects through DR-1996 • Planned Activities: Acquisitions in Musselshell County and Harlem/Blaine County.
