  4. MEET AND GREET • When I ring the bell you are to meet someone new and ask them what there favorite thing about school is so far.

  9. RISKS AND YOUR HEALTH Risks are part of life. Taking care of your health behaviors is part of being a responsible and becoming an adolescence.

  10. RISK BEHAVIORS risk behaviorsActions or behaviors that might cause injury or harm to yourself or others. Risk behaviors can be obvious and some are not because the effects are not immediate. Give an example of risk behaviors.

  11. RISKS AND CONSEQUENCES Some risks have short term consequences. Some risks have long term consequences. Some risks have both short and long term. Some risks are cumulative risks. cumulative risksRelated risks that increase in effect with each added risk

  12. CONSEQUENCES EXAMPLE: It is Friday night and your friends invite you to a party. They tell you there will be alcohol and drugs there. You ask your parents if you can go but fail to tell them about the drugs and alcohol. Your parents give you permission to go but tell you to call at 11 pm and they will pick you up. You go to the party and decide that because your friends are drinking it would be okay if you do. Before you know it is 11 pm. You decide not to call mom and dad but get a ride with an older person who was at the party drinking.

  18. ACTIVITY CREATE 3 COLUMNS AND LABEL EACH COLUMN LIKE THE PICTURE

  19. ACTIVITY By yourself, write down in each column as many positive lifestyle factors that you can think of. Keep in mind some will fit in multiple columns.

  20. ACTIVITY Now with a partner share each others lists and brainstorm to add more to your list.

  21. ACTIVITY • Go back to your desk. Now draw and label your health triangle. You should have a list of positive lifestyle factors. First choose a lifestyle factor that you do already for each category and write that inside. Then choose one that you would like to work on this semester and write that outside.
