  2. About Bethany: • Age: 13 • Lives in Hawaii • Loves to surf • Two Older bothers, Noah and Timothy • Parents are Thomas and Cherilyn Hamilton

  3. Surfing • Bethany has been surfing since she was little • Everyone in her family surfs • Bethany entered and won her first competition at the age of eight • She was won many competitions

  4. Shark Attack • One morning (around 7am) Bethany went surfing with best friend Alana and Alana’s dad and brother. That morning a shark attacked Bethany and ended up ripping off her arm. The shark was a 14 foot tiger shark. Bethany was rushed to the hospital where she under went several surgeries and stayed in the hospital seven days after.

  5. After attack • Bethany was determined to get back to surfing, even with one arm. She worked hard everyday to get used to having only one arm and to get back to surfing. After only one month after the attack she got back in the ocean.
