  1. Build a Bear Curriculum 2011Brought to you by Bear University FOAK www.friendsofallkinds.weebly.com Build a Bears are funny, unique, Interesting, and smart stuffed animals and they need very strict curriculum. So they learn everything they need to. Here is all of the subjects that your build a bear should eventually learn!

  2. Physical Education Like with most living things, exercise is important. As for build a bears it is the same. Build a Bears can be interested in a wide variety of games and sports some made up by you and others real popular. You shouldn’t worry to much about everyday fitness for your build a bears, for they do run and play a lot. But try monthly (or weekly denpending on how many build a bears you have) play a fun game altogether, whether that be outdoor soccer or basketball or even Cops and Robbers inside. Try to work with training build a bears who are really interested in a specific sport. Just make sure your build a bears are living healthy and getting FRESH AIR (all of your build a bears!) Did you know that 70% of build a bears don’t go outside for more then 4 months? Some owners claim they don’t want to get them dirty!

  3. Outdoor Education Build a Bears should learn about the trees, plants, and animals and many outdoor activities. At least 3 times a month they should be out side. You should be teaching about the parts of trees, going on butterfly safries and playing on playgrounds! You can also use this currculum when going hiking or at your cottage.   4. Literacy - Reading As with humans the importance and desire to read and write has been extraordinary. Now obviously unless you have a Bearemy’s Kennel Pals your build a bear should be able to speak as good as you can. As for Reading well some build a bears don’t even need to be taught while others struggle or need to do better. Start with the basics of alphabet and even Jolly Phonics, and always read to your build a bears at least once a month. Teach them later on about inferring and predicting what will happen and other reading strategies needed to read with a purpuse. In my Build a Bear community I even have a library where they can take out books!

  5. Literacy - Writing Writing is one of the main features of the curriculum. Once Build a Bears learn to write they should start studying how to write a Poem, story, Paragraph, and procedural writing. For Poems it is important to teach them how to create a Haiku and a Found Poem using a unique lesson plan. Story writing is one of the first things to do, teach them about a Begging, Middle, and ending plot, and the story map. It is important for any writing piece to show them an example. Paragraphs are taught in the way of the structure including an indent, opening sentence, body, and closing sentence. Reading Response is also one of the most easiest and important things to teach, about APE (Answer, Prove, and Extend). What about grammar?? Yes build a bears should know and work on spelling, adjective, verbs, nouns, punctuation, and grammar. At least every year though your build a bears should be tested.There are though many other writing forms you can also teach your build a bear.

  6. Math Math, you either like it or you don’t. Math is not always the most important in build a bears lives (such a crazy advanced multiplication) but there are some basics they must know. Basics • Time (24 hour clock, anolog, digital) • Measurment ( CM, DM, MM, M, KM, KG, MG, G, ) • Graphs (Bar, circle, survey, pie,) • Probability It is important to teach these things like you would in a normal classroom.

  7. Science They should start off by learning about Rocks and Minerals, and how igneous rock is from hardened molten and lava, while metamorphic is made from compressed sand. Then they should learn about liquid and solids and try to feeze a peanut in a ice cube! After they should learn about the human body, about the systems (Nervous, Skeleton, muscle, Repertory, and digestive system. ). After they should learn about mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish. Science could be a lot of fun!!

  8. Social Studies Basic things they should learn in Social Studies • Pioneers and Settlers • Medieval Times • Ancient Civilizations • Holidays • Countries/Geography

  9. Things you could use Things you could use to set up and easy classroom or learning center for your Build a Bears. • Small Chalkboard or white board • Helpful posters (Alphabets) • Some lined paper for work • Box of markers • Pointer, stickers, or other learning supplies

Media • Curriculum and things needed to learn • How to use the real internet and Build a Bear google (in there condos) • How to email • How to play Wii or Nintendo DS • How to use document word, power point and/or photobooth. • How to advertise and create commercials • How to use BeeBay (on build a bear google) or real google • How to talk on a phone • How to watch TV Can you believe it 40% of build a bears have never watched TV

  11. Visual Art Curriculum and things needed to know • Elements and principles of art • Color wheel (Primary, Secondary, Cool, and warm colors) • Shapes • Photography • Portrait drawing

Drama, Dance, and Music Curriculum and things needed to know • How to write a script • How to describe a dance (movements, energy, paths,) • Tableaux • Types and usage of dance genres • Nathe Notes (1 being really low and 18 being high) • Rhythm and Beat • Sing the national anthem • Genres and Music body
