Achievements to date: Group Priorities Market Information The MIS Group is to harmonize information, review content, improve on how to collect it, verify data and ensure that information reaches farmers country wide: • The groupintends to focus on maize and beans as food crops, coffee as a cash crop and dairy. • Current Actions: inventory, overview paper, symposium, … Financial services Core priority is finding means of making the accessibility of finance to farmers easier. Relevant issues for this group to take up are (a.o.) • Menu of financial services for farmers • Strengthening business plan development among farmer groups • Joint learning around risks and implementation • Documenting experiences (using also examples from recent KIT/IIRR value chain finance book)

Achievements to date: Group Priorities Farming Services Focus of the group is on services; there is need for more coordination in service delivery and to eliminate duplication, ensure resource sharing and networking amongst APF members. • Pilot VC is Rice • Inventory of service gaps • Seasonal workshops • … Policy Engagement The policy group’s agenda is focused on specific issues coming from the other APF teams and on being the eyes and ears on general policy issues related to farmer entrepreneurship in Uganda. • Stakeholder mapping • Review of financial services to establish policy related gaps • Networking with other APF groups in order to identify policy issues

14. Achievements to date: Group Priorities Farmers’organisations Develop an inventory of best practices that can be used to identify / map / support farmer organisations. Focus is to stimulate farming as a business among viable producer groups with the following priorities: • Focus on coffee and livestock but also other sub-sectors. • Designing learning process • Collecting / documenting best practices and methodologies. • Follow-up may be mapping of viable farmer groups, sensitization and support in legal registration process
