  1. Website Analysis Fill in the table on the worksheet, analysing your given site for accessibility features. Website links are on www.MrHallICT.com The first page is analysis of the general design and content of the site. The second page focuses on systems to help accessibility.

  2. LO: Analyse a range of existing websites, taking influence from examples of good practice to incorporate into your own websites. • Interactive? • Dynamic? • Multimedia? • Accessible? • Aesthetically pleasing? • Professional? • Typography?

  3. Coursework Criteria • Pass – Candidates comment on the features of a variety of different websites and explain how they have provided ideas for their own websites. They outline briefly at least two different systems that have been used to aid website accessibility. • Merit – Candidates comment on the features of a variety of different websites and explain clearly which features they will consider using in their website. They outline clearly at least three different systems that have been used to aid website accessibility and identify at least one of these methods that they intend to use in their own site. • Distinction – Candidates critically evaluate a variety of websites, identifying features that have provide them with ideas for their own website. They give reasons for inclusion of such features in their website. They outline in full at least four different systems that have been used to aid website accessibility and identify at least one of these methods that they intend to use in their own site.

  4. Design • Layout – cluttered? • Is the text and other elements appropriately spaced? • Is the colour scheme relevant to the topic? • Does the typography reflect the purpose of the website?

  5. Content • Is the content well written? • How long are the sentences? • Are the images used appropriate and accessible? • Is the use of language accessible?

  6. Structure • Is the navigation system global? • Is it easy to navigate around the site? • Is it easy identify where you are on the site? • Are all links operational? • Is there a site index/map?

  7. Interactivity • What interactive features does the site offer? • How user-friendly are these features? • Are these features available to all users? Examples may include: Geo-location services, forms, interactive multimedia.

  8. Tourism websites Geographical divisions? Earth Continent Country County / State City / Town Borough / District Locality / Village

  9. Interesting Analysis… One village One capital city One county One town/city One foreign country HOWEVER You should also analyse websites that are nothing to do with tourism. E-commerce, promotional, fanzine, hobbyist?

  11. AO2 Tasks • Research at least five features of websites and analyse at least three existing websites for each, looking for examples of good and bad practice. Evaluate (using bullet points) their positive and negative characteristics. • Of these three websites, identify which features may be useful for your website and which may not. Make notes as you research to help you create your report.

  15. HOMEWORK! 4. Create a short report that explains at least five features that have provided you with ideas for your website. For each: • Describe the feature, how it works and the effect it has on the user. • Give at least three examples of good and bad practice on existing websites • Explain why you think it should be included in your website 5. In your report explain in detail at least four systems for accessibility in websites , using examples of existing websites. Identify at least one of these methods that you will use in your website.

  16. MORE HOMEWORK! Read through the chapter for AO3, and complete the following tasks for this AO: • Website proposal • Action plan • Site plan
