Benefits of National Occupational Standards • Why develop National Occupational Standards for Plastics? • Enable development of a standardized, practical education / training for occupations in the Plastics Industry • Provide employees with path for career growth – Minimize Turn Over. • Recognized performance through experience, knowledge and skill development / training.

  6. Developing the National Occupational Standards • Survey selected Industry Processes; • Injection Moulding • Blow Moulding • Extrusion – Film, Profile • Fabrication

  7. Developing the National Occupational Standards • Generic occupations excluded; • Materials Handler • Shipper Receiver • Quality Assurance • Input to Standards provided by “Subject Matter Experts” from Industry: • Face to Face Workshops • Telephone and Email

  9. How to Participate – Step #2 • Select the process area you are most familiar with - Help Link Select Occupation from List

  10. How to Participate – Step #3 • Indicate: ACCEPT/REJECT/MODIFY for each competency and context statement • Competency Validations • are recorded by selecting Accept/Reject/Modify. • Results are submitted and transferred to a central database.
