  1. Monday, March 24, 2014 Anchorage Public School Language Arts This week we will read and comprehend Junior Great Book story “The Nightingale” and also the reading story “The Emperor and the Kite.” Students will not have centers this week. An Art Discovery lesson will be on Thursday morning. Math This week in math we will move from quadrilaterals to angles.  Students need to be able to classify shapes by their geometric elements.  We will be looking at angles as fracional parts of a circle.  We will also begin usign protractors to measure and create angles.  Vocabulary quiz on Friday on the next 12 words.  Specific words will be discussed on Monday. Science Today students will be getting back and going over several graded activities. Once we have gone over them, you will see them come home in the weekly folder. This week we will study light and heat energy. Students will need to bring a box into class on Wednesday for a STEM challenge. Study Island “Physical Science Extra Credit” has been posted and is due the first part of May. We will also learn about Kentucky ranking fourth as having the greatest number of farmers in the U.S. Students will also understand that Kentucky's location, resources, and transportation systems help the state's economy. We will work on our study guides on Monday and take our multiple choice test on Wednesday. Wednesday and Thursday night the on-demand and open response should be written and turned in by Friday at the beginning of class. Spelling/Vocabulary This week’s spelling words come from the Greek Roots Workbook. There are threeSpelling City assignments this week and the test is on Friday.
