This presentation discusses the integration of Oceanographic data with Semantic Web technologies to facilitate real-time data collection and contextualization. It explores the use of web-connected smart sensors and instruments aboard scientific ships and Ships of Opportunity for continuous ocean data gathering, ultimately supporting oceanographic research through the BODC data archive. The development of ontologies, RDF triples, and Semantic Annotation is covered, as well as the use of Protégé for ontology engineering. This initiative under Ocean2025 promotes collaborative ocean knowledge reuse.
