SHRM Affiliate Program for Excellence (SHAPE) Basic requirements – Chapter Leader Information Form and General Information and Financials Timing of chapter conferences and min of 4 programs and 4 board meetings per year Membership of chapter members/ Membership with SHRM President participating in State Council meetings

SHRM Affiliate Program for Excellence (SHAPE) Mission-Driven Chapter Initiatives Develop and implement an initiative in: Membership College Relations Government Affairs/Advocacy Diversity and Inclusion Workforce Readiness An additional initiative of chapter’s choosing Board members participate in leadership conference (state) President and Pres-elect attend leadership conference for state or national leadership conf.

SHRM Affiliate Program for Excellence (SHAPE) SHRM Affiliate Support Promote Annual Conference Increase # of SHRM Members – by 6% or more Ultimate Goal – 100% chapter/SHRM membership 75% of Board are SHRM members Website Contribute to the SHRM Foundation Hold a special fundraising event; Increase giving by 10% or more Promote HRCI Certification

    7. SHRM Affiliate Program for Excellence (SHAPE) SHRM Affiliate Support Serve as a resource to the community or local media in HR issues – includes chapter members serving on other non-profit community groups as a representative of the chapter Be the Voice of HR in your community

    8. Chapter Initiatives This following section describes in detail the Chapter Initiatives in Six Concentration areas. The first eight slides discuss how we as a chapter will meet our initiatives, the three slides thereafter discuss what YOU can do to get involved. We ask all of our members to sign up for at least one committee.

Chapter Initiatives - Membership – 6% increase of SHRM National members and 3% increase of chapter members Committee to welcome and contact new visitors Enforce the existing By-laws – one time visitor at meeting, then membership (does not include speakers) Full Time students – membership free Encourage old members to get to know new ones Discount for members who are SHRM members Get to Know Our Chapter – pre-meeting orientation Offer speakers who will attract participation Offer meetings at convenient times for membership Free membership to displaced HR professionals Keep Website Updated (possibly pay on-line for meetings) MEMBERSHIP VP – Molly Hughes Cherry SPEAKERS/SPONSORS – Lisa Kluczinsky (Pres – Elect)

Chapter Initiatives - College Relations – List student chapters on our website Invite college students to participate on our committees Free memberships to FT college students Contact area professors who teach HR courses to invite students to attend meetings Get to Know Our Chapter – pre-meeting orientation Lisa Robinson with Webster University is Student Liaison.

    11. Chapter Initiatives - Government Affairs/Advocacy Goal to increase participation in letter writing to legislature (You do not have to agree with SHRM’s position – just get involved!) Let us know by keeping acknowledgment letters. [You are also eligible for .25 credit hours toward your HRCI recertification. See recertification at www.hrci.org for more info] Have a state representative speak to our group SC Washington Night (April 6) SC Chamber Continue to send a representative to the SHRM Legislative Conference

Chapter Initiatives - Diversity and Inclusion Combined Diversity Conference (1/2 day) with a Strategic Training Academy (1/2 day) Newsletter to include diversity ideas, which will also have information about other areas Committee needed for conference planning Volunteers needed to be newsletter editor and staff

    13. Chapter Initiatives - Workforce Readiness Have member of TCHRMA on The Education Foundation Promote volunteerism with Connect2Business – 10% of membership enrolled Promote volunteerism with The Education Foundation initiatives

    14. Chapter Initiatives - Service to the Community Encourage HR Professionals and their companies to give of their time and talents to charities Monitor volunteer hours of our members List those companies of members who have encouraged employee volunteers on website

HR Volunteer of the Year Volunteer time to chapter Volunteer time to charities Develop initiatives in your organization to promote volunteerism Involvement in Connect2Business* Involvement in Education Foundation* Other volunteer work to help community Point System – submit on a quarterly basis *Not required, but will be used in point system

HR Member of the Year Volunteer time to chapter/SHRM Invite visitors to our meetings and encourage them to join Develop HR Initiatives within your organization that make a difference (metrics) Be the “Voice of HR” for your organization and in the community (Share your Knowledge) Is HRCI certified or working toward certification Other areas to be developed Point system

    17. What can I do to Help? Sign up for a Committee: Membership/Orientation Committee (Molly Cherry) Speaker/Sponsor Committee (Lisa Kluczinsky) Meeting Operations Committee (Shelly Dandridge, Sec; Teresa Johnson, Treas.) College Relations Committee (Lisa Robinson) Legislative Committee (Chris Ruth) Diversity/Strategic Conference Committee (Terry Stinson) [Note: this committee is now full] Volunteer of the Year and HR Member of the Year Committee (Sharon Sellers) BTW – Can’t win award if you are on the committee!!

    18. What can I do to Help? Be the Editor of the Quarterly Newsletter (may also give support to Publicity Chair) Become knowledgeable about the Legislative Agenda and let your opinions be known – WRITE Representatives Investigate Connect2Business and have your organization sign up (www.scpathways.org) Encourage your organization to become involved in The Education Foundation initiatives Help keep us aware of community needs where HR professionals can help

    19. What can I do to Help? Welcome Visitors and New Members at meetings Invite Visitors to attend Complete quarterly questionnaire forms even if you do not want to apply for Award programs (we need the statistics)

    20. Other Announcements Next Month’s Meeting – Healthcare Reform – What’s in it? Will it Pass? What does it mean to me and my business? If it doesn’t pass, what will the future hold for Healthcare? Lunch Meeting – Holiday Inn Airport – 11:30 – 1:30, February 16.

    21. Certification Info SHRM will be upgrading the certification requirements for next year. If you do not have your PHR/SPHR certification, you may want to make a goal to take the examination this year to avoid additional requirements. Trident Tech’s prep class starts Feb 1. You need to register asap (no later than Friday, 01/11). Course may be cancelled if not enough students.
