  2. When did The Germans immigrate to the United States? When: 17th century-21st century(1680-2011)

  3. Why did Germans immigrate to U.S? • Because the 17th century Germany people wants to get a job and freedom and because new world´s economic was greater than Europe and so richer wants to have more rich and glory, also farmers don´t have enough ground and because new world´s ground is larger then Germany, and so farmers want to go to the new world.

  4. Where did German people mainly settle in the U.S? • German first arrived in Pennsylvania and N.Y after 50 years Germans lived in Texas or Boston or Peninsula.

  5. What was their life like when they first arrived in the U.S? • They ate, spoke, believed their country´s culture but someday they ate America´s food, believed their religion and spoke America's language.

  6. Were the laws that tried to stop or limit their immigration? • Yes, because in the world war 2 America´s enemy was Germany. • Then , America was worried that the German would terrorize in the U.S or do the spying in the U.S.

  7. Did people already in the U.S hold prejudices against Germans? • Before in the times of slavery they had little trouble but now in days they have a lot of trouble because today in Germany economy is not better than the U.S.

  8. Was it hard to adapt to life in the U.S? • Yes it was because America’s culture is different to the German culture.

  9. How did the Germans influence American music, food, language or holidays? • Language: Some Americans in U.S speak German although still for some Germans it’s hard for them to speak in the U.S. • Music: Germany’s music is classical that makes it different from America’s music because now in days Americans like rock and pop. So because Germans music is the most preferred as classical music.

  10. Food: common people usually eat fried potato, hamburger or hotdog. German people usually eat sausage, beer and some vegetables and because Germans eat sausage and beer they affect America’s food. • Clothing: Germans usually wear leder hosen and spotter dash and Americans usually wear jeans and t-shirts. However Germans do not affect Americans clothing. • Holidays: Germans holidays are new year’s day, labor day, German unity day, repentance day, Easter Monday, national foundation day, etc.
