Consultations • South America - October 3 – 7 Sao Paolo - Subjects - - Climate change and others to be consulted on - Disaster and emergencies • Pacific - Considering later October - Fiji • South and South East Asia - Considering 2nd week November in Calcutta, Lahore or Sri Lanka - Major themes - Peace and reconciliation, migrants and refugees, food security (consulting) Disasters and emergencies

  3. Website • End May - basic pages complete and sample mapping in each diocese • End June 10 per cent dioceses mapped (80) • End November 30 per cent diocese mapped (approx 290)

  4. Development • Economic empowerment - Roadmap to Anglican Bank – south to south learning working exercise, launch in July, focussing on: relevance to regions savings/micro-loans/community banks extending existing church financial services - Civic rights/financial literacy information campaign to be launched at one of the autumn consultations - targeting household financial decision makers - Access to markets - Develop and circulate policy paper - Mapping - Resources and mapping on website

Development • Peace and reconciliation - Develop policy paper and outcomes for one of autumn conferences, drawing especially from experiences in Africa and South Asia, and including proposals for south-south learning. - Event in UK summer 2012 with Coventry Cathedral – 50th anniversary of reconciliation centre for younger people from post conflict communities. - Focus on position of women in post-conflict society, especially dealing with gender-based violence.

Development • Governance Aim: to improve governance through empowerment of local communities to exercise their rights. - Select key countries to study extent and impact of poor governance, and evolve strategy for voter empowerment in run-up to elections. - Use findings to produce best practice guide and replicate. Start date: Fixed through consultation with partners who are prepared to take this forward.

  7. Advocacy • Policy areas - Global strategy for 2011 focuses on: • Access to finance • Food security (commodities) • Financing for provision of services • (participatory budgeting) Research to identify key policy instruments – target date - end June. In conjunction with NGO partners.

  8. Advocacy - 2 • Programme: Aim to raise awareness in church/wider community. Influencing of opinion formers to whom church has access. • Calendar of lobbying over summer to early autumn G20/developing countries. Local and regional level. • Resources on website for summer/early autumn • Event with Archbishop of Canterbury late October/early November

  9. Advocacy - 3 • 2012 Campaign - Focus on climate change, programme to be developed in conjunction with South and Central America and Caribbean and Pacific region to take forward at consultation in Sao Paolo in October.

Emergency Relief Key issue for Alliance • Short term - Alliance to build strategic relations with international humanitarian and faith-based partners. - AA to develop proposal for south-south learning looking at effectiveness of international response and church contribution in selected emergencies, including conflict – to develop early warning system for conflict. - Links for website relief pages. - Take forward policy and procedures in line with consultation input: NB ethos statement

Emergency Relief - 2 • Medium/longer term - Identify and support capacity building of expertise of church in emergency response – use of church facilities for shelter, counselling, health support for people disabled in emergencies. - Develop contextually relevant toolkits for preparedness and response.

  12. Emergency Relief - 3 • Timetable Links with international community and other partners during the summer. Input from partners with expertise on revised note – and e-consultation. Take revised policy and procedure note to south and south east Asia conference. Start south-to-south learning from autumn. Extra spending items in next financial year.

  13. Theological resources • Taking forward lessons from field visit - volunteers needed to develop resources for website. • Role of priest/training - take forward via consultation with theological principals. • Alliance prayer and song - from Pacific worship.
