The Geography and Civilizations of Ancient Greece: From Minoans to City-States

Ancient Greece's geography significantly influenced its civilizations, characterized by rugged mountains and proximity to the Aegean Sea. The Minoan civilization flourished on Crete (2000-1400 B.C.) as master builders, great sailors, and creators of unique artwork and writing. Following the Minoans, the Mycenaean civilization emerged on the mainland, building palatial structures and conquering Minoan territories around 1450 B.C. After the Dark Ages, diverse city-states developed, introducing various governance systems, with Athens becoming the first democracy. Discover the rich history and geography that shaped Ancient Greece.
