The New Directions Alternative Center (NDAC), established in 2013 at Smithfield High School, provides tailored educational support for students at risk of not graduating on time. With a dedicated staff of one coordinator and five licensed teachers, NDAC employs electronic learning tools such as WHRO's "Desire to Learn" and NovaNet to deliver core academic subjects. Since its opening, NDAC has served 50 students, leading to successful program completions and transitions to GED and job programs. Future plans include expanding services and incentives to support student success and engagement.
