What’s the Knowledge Council doing about shared services? • exploring cost effective ways of delivering services to support the core business needs of HMG • making recommendations for implementing efficiency savings and transforming library and information service activities within HMG … to support greater exploitation of information resources

  5. What has the KC Group done? • Held a supplier event in February • Engaged with Efficiency Reform Group • Informed suppliers about: - impact of CSR and transparency agenda - need to consider different ways of offering services and collaborating - need for innovation

  6. Other efficiencies will come from … • Storing print collections offsite • Clustering • Developing partnerships

  7. What shared service models are there? • Full shared service • Partial shared service • Outsourced service • Creative swiping • Mutualisation
