  2. ACCIDENTS AND FIRST AID The aim of this session is to provide you with:- • Information on accident reporting • Information on accident investigation • First aid information

ACCIDENT/INCIDENT REPORTING • All accidents/incidents etc to staff, visitors, contract workers etc, must be reported in accordance with the Company's Accident and Incident Reporting Procedure • All accidents/incidents (no matter how minor) must be recorded • This is a legal requirement • Some serious accidents will require reporting to the Enforcing Authority under RIDDOR

  4. RIDDOR ACCIDENTS Reporting of Incidents, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995 • Any serious accident that happens either to a customer or employee has to be reported if it falls under RIDDOR. • By law, these must be reported to the enforcing authority. • Do you know which accidents/incidents fall into this category?

  5. ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION Accident/Incident Form Completed Senior Management to Review Details Internal Investigation Completed Take Action to Prevent Recurrence

  6. AFTER THE ACCIDENT • Review the relevant risk assessment - implement any further control measures to reduce the risk of the accident recurring • Record any reviews • Retrain employees if necessary (record and re-training)

  7. FIRST AID • First aid kits are located …………………………… • First aid kits must not contain medicines or burn sprays etc • First aiders in this premises are …………………….. and can be contacted by ……………………… • In case of all accidents requiring treatment or attention call a first aider

  8. FIRST AID KIT • Sterile dressings • Triangular bandages • Instruction leaflet • Blue plasters • Gloves • Safety pins
