This project focuses on constructing a non-combustion constant pressure calorimeter designed to deliver reliable and repeatable thermal data. The goal is to minimize heat loss, achieve significant data precision, and integrate methods for stirring, liquid delivery, and temperature measurement. Detailed procedures will include material specifications, construction techniques, and illustrations. Testing involves introducing hot water into cold water to quantify heat loss, requiring at least three repetitions to ensure consistency. If results vary, the calorimeter design will be revised for improved accuracy.

Non-combustion/ Constant Pressure Calorimeter Construction and Testing Lab: Objective: To design and test a calorimeter that meets the following guidelines: -produces reliable, consistent and repeatable data -provides as many significant figures as possible -have the lowest heat loss possible (low specific heat capacity) -provides a method for stirring (manually or a stir bar) -provides a method for delivering liquids/ solutions -provides a method for inserting a temperature probe Write Detailed procedures, including pictures and construction techniques and sizes of materials used. To test: Hot water added to cold watertest (mcAT – mcAT= heat loss to surroundings) (Repeat at least 3 times, If tests do not give the same data, your calorimeter should be reconstructed)
