  8. Taekwondo • South Korea’s martial art is Taekwondo. It not only emphasizes physical attributes but also mind attributes. It is now in the Olympic Games.

  9. Clothing • The ruling class has clothes more ornate and expensive than the lower class. Certain types of clothing and colors are reserved for the royal family.

  10. Village Guardians • In rural areas there are guardians to protect the village people from evil spirits and to pray for a good crop each year.

  11. Korean Independence • Korea gained independence from Japan in 1945 at the end of WWII. Ideally split by the US and Soviet Union they were expected to unite one day.
