Serve as the primary point of contact for TSA on transportation security issues with foreign governments Coverage of all countries served by U.S. Air Carriers and Foreign Air Carriers Promote alignment and consistency between security requirements of the U.S. and foreign governments Ensure timely reporting and dissemination of pertinent transportation security information Advise U.S. Ambassadors and embassy officials on transportation security issues On-site incident coordination TSA Representatives (TSARs)

  7. International Industry Representatives (IIRs) are the primary contact between TSA and foreign air carriers and foreign all-cargo air carriers on all security matters. IIRs review implementing instructions for carrier security programs, determine if they comply with international Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Annex 17 and applicable TSA security regulatory requirements and furnish clear and specific procedures and instructions governing security programs. IIRs interpret and evaluate security programs and amendments, and explain these programs and amendments to industry and air carrier representatives. Coordinate alternate procedures and amendments Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with TSA organizational elements, and industry. International Industry Representatives (IIRs)

Who we “visit” ● Foreign airports served by U.S. air carriers. ● Foreign airports from which foreign air carriers serve the U.S. ● Foreign airports which pose a high risk of danger to international travel. ● Such other foreign airports as the Secretary may deem appropriate. ● Foreign Repair Stations

ASSIST Overview TSA has developed Aviation Security Sustainable International Standards Teams (ASSIST) whose primary focus is to assist host nation officials in building aviation security programs abroad. Purpose: To raise the baseline of transportation security and effectively build sustainable institutions and practices through international alliances building both capacity and development through aviation security training and overall security assessments. 14
