Reading Specialist swozniak@twinsburg.oh.us.k12 (330) 486-2046 February 24, 2014 “I am not a teacher, but an awakener.” Robert Frost Ms. Wozniak’sReading News As I continue to read and re-read Donalyn Miller’s book, Reading in the Wild – The Book Whisperer’s Keys to Cultivating Lifelong Reading Habits I seem to find just one more tidbit that I can’t resist sharing with you. I am a “wild reader”, finding time in the oddest places to sneak a few pages of my latest books, whether in paper form or an e-book. A few years ago I discovered that I could borrow audio books from the library and download them on first my I-pod and then my I-phone and now I can plug my phone into my car radio while driving and listen as well. I listen to books when I work out and yes I’m sure more than a few people wonder why I am laughing or gasping in horror (I love mysteries and light comedy)while sweating over weights or on the elliptical trainer, but it sure beats thinking about how much more time I have left to do… I am also the one who snuck my fun reading inside my text books during school and constantly got busted for it but this makes me think it was all worth it. That and the fact that I get to teach reading everyday! What a blessing.
