  11. Types of transfer: Near Transfer of knowledge between closely related concepts A person who knows how to drive a car can transfer these existing skills to learn how to drive a bus Automated task oriented

  12. Types of transfer: Far Transfer of knowledge between (seemingly) disparate concepts VS. A person who has a lot of practice driving an automatic may have difficulty learning to drive a manual transmission car. Thinking process oriented

  16. What can teachers do to promote transfer in the classroom? Use the common material that students already know to introduce new information. Sousa calls this transfer DURING learning.

  17. What can teachers do to promote transfer in the classroom? When teaching, continually prepare students for future studies by building a scaffolding that will promote transfer in the future. Sousa calls this transfer OF learning.
