Click your mouse for next slide

  2. Dreamweaver – Inserting and Formatting Text • If you are dying to use special fonts there is another way but more about that later • To change the font or the style as far as Dreamweaver will let you use the Property Inspector • Select the type you wish to Bold and choose the Bold button • In like manner you can Italicize, Center or justify, add bullets or indent by using these buttons Click your mouse for next slide

  6. Dreamweaver – Inserting and Formatting Text • Notice please the last choice on this list – Spell Checker also called up if you hold down Shift and press F7 • This is a legitimate spell checker which will save you tons of marks • From now on NOTHING you type in Dreamweaver should have a spelling error in it because you are going to use it ALL THE TIME – RIGHT? RIGHT!! Click your mouse for next slide

  7. Dreamweaver – Inserting and Formatting Text • But you’re saying to yourself, OK FST, what if I want to get really funky. Will Dreamweaver let me? • Of course but we have to insert the funky stuff as special characters called Flash Text • Here’s how: go to the Insert menu and choose the Interactive Images choice and the Flash Text option Click your mouse for next slide

  8. Dreamweaver – Inserting and Formatting Text • Type whatever text you want into the Text box. Now bring on the funk!! • Do your centering, justifying, Bold or Italicizing by choosing the appropriate buttons just above the text box • Note: the centering you apply here will apply to the little box your text will be inserted in. To center it on your page you will have to treat the box as if it was another word, swipe over it, and center it. Click your mouse for next slide

  9. Dreamweaver – Inserting and Formatting Text • Drop your Font list down and all the fonts on your computer are displayed there. Your text will automatically change as your choose a font • In like manner you can change the size in the little box to the right on the Fonts list. Click your mouse for next slide

  10. Dreamweaver – Inserting and Formatting Text • Choose a wild and crazy color from the color list • Choose a Rollover color from that list if your wish • A rollover color is a color that your text will turn into when the viewer places his or her mouse over the text – try it – choose a color Click your mouse for next slide

  11. Dreamweaver – Inserting and Formatting Text • The Link window allows you to link this text to a website on the web by typing in it’s address i.e. http://www.gooogle.com • Or you can link to another file in your site by clicking on the browse button and browsing to that file Click your mouse for next slide

  12. Dreamweaver – Inserting and Formatting Text • The Target window allows you to change the window that your link will display • In other words if I drop the list down and choose blank – the link will open up a new window when my viewer clicks on it Click your mouse for next slide

  13. Dreamweaver – Inserting and Formatting Text • Finally the Bg color window allows you to have a background color for the Flash Text • But I guess you already figured that out anyway • Finally the Save as box is suggesting that unless you change it this piece of text will be saved as a file called text1.swf • This means that this text will actually be saved as a small Flash movie and will be displayed and played where you have indicated. Click your mouse for next slide

  14. Dreamweaver – Inserting and Formatting Text • You can also browse and save this movie in other locations but let’s just leave things at the default for now • Say Apply and OK and then, when you go back to your page F12 it and see how funky you have been. Click your mouse for next slide

  15. Super Giant Big Fun Assignment • Open up your index page and insert some Flash Text for the title which has a different font and color and which links to a g-rated site of some sort • Make sure it has a rollover color and opens in the separate window • Type and insert elsewhere in the page in plain Jane old Verdana text a short g-rated joke of some sort • Spell check your document and then save it in your network folder • Proudly display it to FST so he can TICK YOU OFF Click your mouse for next slide
