  7. F.O.A. (Bellwork) • Write down the following sentence, and fill in the blank. • My favorite part of winter break was ____; it was my favorite part because _____.

  8. Entering class • Enter classroom quietly and calmly • Have only bellwork supplies on desk (pencil and paper) • Be in your seat when bell rings or you are tardy

  9. Arriving prepared • Bring paper and a pencil to class. • If you forget to bring a pencil or paper, grab the needed supplies from the table upon entering. • Do not ask Mr. Ezzell or a classmate for paper or a pencil during class. • Mr. Ezzell will keep a sheet of paper on the table. If you take a pencil, sign your name on the board. • Mr. Ezzell will take up pencils the last two minutes of class.

  10. Tardy consequences • First offense: warning • Second offense: step • There will be a sheet of paper on the table when you enter. You must sign in if you’re late.

  11. F.O.A. (Bellwork) • It will be on the overhead when you enter class. • You are expected to start on bellwork immediately after sitting down.

  12. Pencil sharpening • Do not sharpen your pencil without permission • Raise your hand with your pencil in it • Only one person may sharpen his/her pencil at a time

  13. Tissues • You may ask for a tissue when Mr. Ezzell isn’t instructing the class • Don’t ask for a tissue during instructional time unless it’s an emergency • Disobedience of this rule will result in a consequence

  14. Trash • Don’t leave trash on Mr. Ezzell’s floor • Throw all trash away at the end of the period • If there is trash on the floor, Mr. Ezzell will not dismiss the class until the trash is in the trash can

  15. Grades for U.S. History • There will be no extra credit • Tests count for 50 percent of your grade. • There will be a test or quiz every Thursday unless Mr. Ezzell tells you otherwise. Mr. Ezzell will tell you whether you’re having a test or quiz ahead of time. • Homework and classwork count for 25 percent of your grade. • Quizzes count for 25 percent of your grade.

  16. Grades for Reading • There will be no extra credit • Tests count for 50 percent of your grade. • There will be a test or quiz every Friday unless Mr. Ezzell tells you otherwise. Mr. Ezzell will tell you whether you’re having a test or quiz head of time. • Homework and classwork count for 25 percent of your grade. • Quizzes count for 25 percent of your grade.

  17. Homework • Mr. Ezzell will call for homework one row at a time following bellwork. • Homework goes in box on table.

  18. More Homework • Put your name, date and class period in the upper right corner of your paper.

  19. Groupwork • Periodically we will do groupwork. • You are expected to behave and talk to each other in a civil manner. • You must keep volume at a reasonable level.

  20. Returning papers • I will return papers the last five minutes of class.

  21. Make-up work • Go to the make-up wall and find the folder for the day you were absent. • Do what the instructions in the folder tell you to do. • If you have a question about the work ask at least two classmates to explain it. • If you still do not understand then you can ask Mr. Ezzell.

  22. Food and drink • Food is not allowed in Mr. Ezzell’s classroom • Water in a closeable container is the only drink allowed in the classroom • Gum is not allowed. • Throw away all empty water bottles before leaving the classroom.

  23. Restroom • You are not allowed to use the restroom during class • Use the restroom between classes

  24. Locker • Wait for the appropriate time to go to your locker. • Bring your book every day.

  25. Computer • Do not use the computer without my permission • Disobedience of this rule will result in a consequence • Use only educational Web sites • You must have parental permission to use a computer

  26. Speaking • Do not speak during instruction • I will not field any questions/comments unless you raise your hand • The courteous thing to do is raise your hand before speaking. • Do not ask to use the bathroom or leave the class during instruction

  27. Bullying • Bullying WILL NOT be tolerated • Any act of bullying will result in automatic referral to the dean or administration

  28. Homeroom • When first period begins, dress code will be checked by me daily. • DO NOT talk during this process. • DO NOT move away from the area directly behind your desk. • Failure to follow procedure will be met with consequences.

  29. Eighth period • You will clean the classroom from 3:00 until you are dismissed. • Pay close attention to the dismissals. • Students will have specific jobs at the end of the day such as sweeping, taking down buses, desks, trash, exc. • Failure to follow directions will be met by SERIOUS consequences.

  30. Consequences 1.) Parent contact/Dentention 2.) Mini School Isolation and parental contact/conference 3.) Referral to the Dean

  31. Dress code • No flip-flops • No hats or anything else on your head • Only small purses are allowed • Only backpacks with strings are allowed • No clothing with inappropriate language or pictures • No jackets • If you aren’t sure about something … don’t wear it

  32. Exiting class • You aren’t dismissed until Mr. Ezzell says “Have a Nice Day” • Exit in a quiet and orderly fashion • All chairs must be pushed in • All trash must be picked up • The bell does not dismiss you • I dismiss you • Turn in your exit card. On the exit card, write down one thing you learned today.

  33. Survey • Answer the survey on your sheet of paper. • Don’t use the same sheet of paper as your bellwork. • Don’t write your name on the sheet of paper.

  36. Assignment • Divide your paper into three parts. • You must pick eight terms from the powerpoint. • On the far left column, provide a definition of the word. The definition must be a minimum of one sentence. • In the middle column, use the word in a sentence and underline it. • In the far right column, draw and color a picture that’s relevant to the word.
