Welcome to Mrs. Matacotta's 5th Grade Class! With over 20 years of teaching experience, Mrs. Matacotta is excited to guide students through an enriching academic year. Our schedule includes engaging subjects like Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science, with a focus on fostering a love for learning. Class Schedule School begins at 7:45 Students may enter the building at 7:15 Regular Dismissal-2:25 Wednesday Early Dismissal-1:25 11:00-11:45 Specials (PE, Art, PE, Music, PE) 11:00-11:40 (Wednesdays) 11:58-12:28 Lunch 9:10- 9:40 Gifted Collaborative (Wednesday) Friday Gifted Pull-Out e on time

Assignments Language Arts • Reading • Homework 5 nights a week -Silent reading (30min-60min) *Content areas count for reading -Vocabulary- Quiz on Thursday • Book Reports • Writing: Genres • Narrative, Persuasive, Informational, Response to Lit. • Spelling • Homework 3-4 nights a week • Pretest on Monday /Post test on Thursday • English • Daily Language Review (DLR) Quiz on Friday

  8. Assignments • Math • Homework 4-5 times a week • Math Journal • Unit Pretests and Post tests • Social Studies, Science, and Health • Homework 2-4 times a week • Projects • Unit tests A Project • Homework - 20-60 minutes a night, 5-6 nights a week • Incomplete or late assignments are circled.

Classroom Management Star Sheet (Land on a star and get a prize) • Students earn stars • Completing assignments on time(daily/whole week) • Reading at least double the minutes required • Earning 100% on tests, quizzes, projects, etc… • Going above and beyond in their work • Exhibiting model behavior • Trying hard • Staying on task • Listening and following directions • Following the “Golden Rule” • ETC… +

Classroom Management Behavior/Grade Sheet • Used to record student’s behavior in class • Tallies Yes/No • No tallies indicate satisfactory behavior for week • Used to record student’s weekly grades • Students record weekly goal • Sent home with Thursday’s papers • Signed and returned on Friday -

  12. Attendance and Dismissal • 5 absences- teacher notifies parents • A note from parents required explaining absences • Changes in routine dismissal require a note from parents • Students must be signed out through the office • Tardy students must check in at the office before coming to class
