Why Bother? • Internship are real-world work experiences in which students take on temporary roles in organizations in order to: • Apply academic knowledge to a work setting • Solidify a career choice • Develop professional contacts; and • Gain experience in a field of interest to make you more marketable • Completing an internship is the single best way to research and prepare for your career

  3. ` Are Foreign Interns Beneficial To Malaysian Legal Firms? • From a purely business standpoint the answer would be NO! • Why? – Because we are unable to employ the intern due to the restrictions placed by • the Malaysian Legal Board. • However that does not mean foreign interns will not add value to a local firm. Why? –The value interns bring to a firm should not be looked narrowly from a business standpoint alone. • International Outlook • Foreign interns do add value in the sense that the name of the firm will be regionally marketed. This would encourage foreign businesses or organization which the intern is later attached to and which has an interest legal or business related in Malaysia to contact us as their link in this country. • Corporate & Social Responsibility • Foreign interns contribute to the correlation and expansion of the brotherhood amongst the global legal fraternity. Today for Thomas Philip it is interns from Australia but tomorrow it could be interns from another country or region. The goal of Thomas Philip becoming the number one litigation firm requires us to garner the regional recognition as one too. We are not just all about business.
