Not all nouns are 1st declension… • The declension of a noun is determined by the ending of the genitive singular. • 1st declension -ae • 2nd declension-i • Whereas most first declension nouns were feminine, second declension nouns are half masculine and half neuter. • The cases are used EXACTLY the same, but formed differently.
