  3. Middle School... • Certainly this is a time of mixed emotions. • Expectations change dramatically. • There are more teachers…7 or 8 instead of 1 or 2. • Homework may require more time. • Prioritizing multiple tasks.

  4. Yes, middle school is hard on parents, too! Don’t be shy! All parents have concerns & fears. We are here to lend you support, offer tips, and walk through this with you during this challenging time.

  5. 30 Years of Research… Home involvement in schooling has a POSITIVE impacton youngster’s attitudes, aspirations, and achievement. One of the most effective ways to increase student achievement is for parents to be actively involved in the education of their children.

  9. Brahams Orchestra Students who study music outperform non-music students on achievement tests in reading and math. Because of their study in music, their skills are better in reading, anticipating, memory, listening, forecasting, recall and concentration. B.   30. Top Secret Tips for Success Buy a combination lock before school begins and practice opening the lock. Avoid “Super-sized” backpacks that can carry 50 pounds (Smaller = Better Organization). Ask your child open-ended questions to learn about their school experiences each day. Get acquainted and communicate with teachers, administrators, and sponsors.

  31. Highlights to remember… Stay involved. Monitor your child’s progress. Teach organizational skills daily for the first few months of school. (Then be prepared to reteach them every year after that!) Ask questions of administrators and teachers. Don’t wait. Seek information. Attend school events. Volunteer in school.
