  5. The mosquito life cycle starts when an adult mosquito lays her eggs on water. The female mosquito first need a blood meal in order to lay her eggs This creates an egg raft of up to several hundred attached eggs.   6. The larva come to the surface and breathe through a siphon. The larva sheds its skin four times during the next several days.
