2. First it was Caracas & Trichy • The Adopt An Evangelist concept grew out of the short-term missions trips taken over the past several years including Caracas-2000, India-2001, India-2002, El Salvador-2003, Honduras-2003, Honduras-2004. • The Lord placed this on Forrest’s heart during Silva Crusade in India in 2001 • The concept was first received/discussed in 2001 as a “combination” of the Caracas-type effort and MSEI crusades. • The concept was presented to and supported by Pastoral Staff in 2002. • Mike Silva and Mike Zanon visited WSBC in January, 2004

3. Then Silva Adopted It (Get it?) Mike Silva Evangelism (MSE) is committed to partnering with local churches, both in the US and abroad, to fulfill our mission to “practice and proclaim the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.” Our U. S. church partners provide the needed prayer, financial, and staff support for our international outreach efforts. Because we are more interested in disciples than decisions, we partner with and provide training to local churches to equip them to follow-up new believers and integrate them into the church.

4. Then Silva Adopted It MSE desires to be an extension of your church’s missions program. Simply put, we need you to effectively do what we do. But we also believe that we can help invigorate the mission’s heart of your church. How? We call it “New Testament Live!” “Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.” --Acts 2:41 (NIV)

Then, An Example Short-Term Missions Program(from Jeff McKinley, Missions Pastor at Overlake Christian Church) • 28-34 teams of 10-15 people sent per year • Funding from both church budget and personal fund-raising • 35% of each member’s travel cost covered by church • Trip leader and materials expense covered by church • Church support for each trip is approximately $5000

Continued….(from Jeff McKinley, Missions Pastor at Overlake Christian Church) • Destinations determined/developed by mission pastor/missions leadership • Mission Trip Priorities: • support effective programs/projects • support church missionaries • Most trips are now repeat efforts • Leadership trains and supports trip leaders • Trip leaders organize and coordinate trips and train trip participants

7. The Task Force felt led to… • Take the “Adopt an Evangelist” concept of supporting an evangelistic overseas crusade event with financial resources and teams of church members to serve in that community in crusade support (music/tech), construction, pastor conference, women’s conference, etc. and • Add the concept of using these crusades to establish a “connection” with local in-country ministries to repeatedly send short-term missions teams in follow-up support (“Adopt a Location”)

8. Our Proposal(Based on prayer, our experiences, prayer, discussions with other churches, MSEI and Adopt An Evangelist Task Force discussions) • Long-Term Goal: 8-10 Short-term missions trips per year • Mike Silva Evangelism International efforts serve dual purpose as evangelism and for building in-country relationships for follow-up trips • To establish the Adopt An Evangelist/Short-Term Missions Ministry Task Force and obtain the required funding

WSBC Short-Term Missions Proposal(Based on prayer, our experiences, prayer, discussions with other churches, MSEI and Adopt An Evangelist Task Force discussions) • $40,000 annual budget • Initially for 50% of a MSEI crusade expense, leadership trips with OCC to develop in-country contacts and a small number of WSBC short-term team mission trips • Over the years, this should evolve into a structure of fewer crusades, fewer leadership trips and more WSBC teams

10. WSBC AAE/STMMTF Proposal(Based on prayer, our experiences, prayer, discussions with other churches, MSEI and Adopt An Evangelist Task Force discussions) 2005-2006 Budget

11. What does the Crusade support involve? • Each crusade costs about $60,000 depending on the location. This includes the cost of: • pre-crusade planning visits • evangelism and follow-up training • Bibles and other follow-up materials • bus transportation to get people to the crusade grounds • advertising • rental fees for crusade grounds • conference facilities • equipment rental • security • administration. • WSBC would provide 50% of the financial support for “our” crusade

12. Why Support Mike Silva International Crusades? • Biblically-based, spiritually gifted evangelism effort • Extends our outreach – builds/supports churches overseas that will send missionaries to like-people groups in our area • Multiplies our impact – Silva’s organization can proclaim Christ to four people for every dollar received. • Extends our evangelism – one crusade will typically involve more people coming to Christ than all other church efforts combined – maybe ever. • Crusade evangelism efforts are not currently included in WSBC efforts. • Involvement in Silva Crusades will equip our people, expand their vision and increase their involvement in other aspects of Christian service.

More Benefits to WSBC: • Spiritual ownership of a significant international evangelistic event. • Engage a large number of people from WSBC in international outreach and discipleship. • Customized outreach activities (food distribution, construction, pastoral training, etc.) that support the interests and gift-mix of your people. • Visible impact overseas and in WSBC members. • Eternal fruit. At “your crusade,” the probabilities are extremely high that you and your church will see more people saved, followed-up and integrated into the local church than any other time in the history of your ministry.

14. We Believe Involvement in Mike Silva Crusades: • is essential for the WSBC Short-Term Missions program to be effective • results in greater involvement in evangelism and discipleship • provides effective opportunities for the establishment of in-country, essential relationships with local Christian leaders

15. We Believe Short-Term Missions Experiences:(and the experience of other churches support these beliefs) • are essential for discipleship • result in greater involvement of church members in other aspects of Christian life (i.e. the program pays for itself) • provide effective opportunities for direct involvement in fulfilling the Great Commandment/Great Commission

Our Charter AAE/STMMTF Charter: • To coordinate short-term mission efforts at WSBC • To be a task force involved with Discipleship and Missions • To develop in-country relationships for the purpose of sending short-term missions teams on a long-term basis • To develop short-term mission team leaders at WSBC

17. The Next Steps • AAE/STMMTF Representative Attends MMT Meetings (2nd Tuesday of month: 6:30-9:30 PM) • Develop AAE/STMMTF and obtain funding • Contact Partnership Ministries – Steve Reed • AAE/STMMTF develops relationships with MSEI; in-country missionaries, pastors and leaders • AAE/STMMTF recruits and develops trip leaders at WSBC • AAE/STMMTF approves mission trips • Trip leaders recruit members and conduct the short-term mission efforts Repeat/adjust steps 4-7 as the Lord leads
