Students can discuss available project proposals with supervisors from 20-27 February. Each student must select at least two projects and rank them in order of preference, while supervisors do the same. From 28 February to 7 March, a "Perfect-marriage" allocation algorithm will run daily to match students with projects based on their mutual preferences. Priority will be given to students' preferences over supervisors'. All remaining projects will be available for selection starting 11 March. 20-27 February Project proposals available Students discuss projects with supervisors Select at least two Rank them in order of preference Supervisor does the same By whatever means they choose
28 February - 7 March ”Perfect-marriage" allocation algorithm run at 0300 each day If a pair of student and project have ranked each other as their first choice then as long as the supervisor has not reached his/her quota, the project is allocated to the student This in turn can trigger new perfect matches
10 March Allocations which are not "perfect-marriages" are effected students' preferences have greater weight than the supervisors’ No student will be allocated a project unless they have ranked it
11 March onwards The database is reopened with the remaining (hopefully very few) students
