  1. The Nile River • The Nile River’s flood was very dependable and much more gentle than The Tigris and Euphrates’ floods were. This made the Nile easier to use for farming.

  2. Nile River • Cataracts- wilds rapids formed by cliffs and boulders in a river • Delta- area of fertile soil at the mouth of the river

  3. They planted wheat, barley and flax seed in the wet, rich soil. • Flax seeds were used to make cloth.

  4. Deserts • The Nile on its west has the Western Desert (Sahara Desert) and on its east it has the Eastern Desert

  5. Papyrus • Papyrus- a reed plant that grows up along the shore of the Nile River. • Egyptians used it to make baskets, sandals and even river rafts. Most importantly they used it to make PAPER!
