Titles and Names • Bourgeoisie- the leading urban professional and commercial classes of the third estate • Jacobins- nationwide network of political clubs named for a former convent in Paris • Girondins- moderate, political group named for region in France • Montagnards- radical political group, named for the location where they sat in the meeting hall • Sansculottes- professionals of France, name means “without Breeches” because they wore long trousers instead of the knee high breeches of the middle class
