  4. Math • Investigations Curriculum • Our math program is called “Investigations”. This program allows students to learn from hands-on activities. They will be learning many concepts such as patterns, geometry, computation, measurement, time, money, and addition & subtraction. • Cathy Fosnot • Series of carefully crafted math situations to foster a deep conceptual understanding of essential mathematical ideas, strategies, and models. • Dreambox • This is an online program used to help students develop number sense and basic math skills in a fun, technological way

The Leader In Me • The Leader In Me is a whole-school model that we implement at Wren Hollow. • Over the next 7 weeks, your child will be introduced to the 7 Habits of Happy Kids. • We will reinforce these habits using common language throughout the school year. We encourage you to use this same common language at home. • You can learn more about The Leader In Me by visiting the www.theleaderinme.org and by reading your child’s 7 Habits of Happy Kids book!

Our Schedule Kindergarten Schedule 2 0 1 3 – 2 0 1 4 • 8:45-9:05: Arrival/Welcome • 9:05-9:15: Morning Meeting • 9:15-10:15: Reading Workshop • 10:15-10:30: Word Work • 10:30-10:55: Restroom/Snack/Gross Motor • 1055-11:40: Math • 11:40-12:00: Recess • 12:00-12:20: Lunch • 12:20-12:50: Rest and Refuel/Wren Workshop • 12:50-1:20: Social Studies/Science • 1:20-2:00 Writer’s Workshop • 2:00-3:00: Learning Centers • 3:00-3:50: Specials • 3:50-3:55: Back Packs on • 3:55: Dismissal

  8. Classroom Procedures • Our Class Expectations • Snack • Please send a healthy snack with your child each day. We are an allergy aware classroom. If you would like to send a “donation” to help supply our snack for students who do not have one, that would be wonderful! • Please pack the snack outside of the lunchbox • Birthdays • We love to celebrate birthdays! Please feel free to send a treat in with your child. All birthday treats must be store bought. Please include enough treats for all 22 students. Also, please send me an email or note prior to sending a treat so I can plan accordingly. • If your child has allergies and you would like to provide some safe & special treats for me to hang on to in the classroom for other students birthdays, please let me know.

  9. Classroom Procedures • Take Home Folders • Please check your child’s take home folder each night. If you have any messages for me, please send it in the take home folder. • Rest Time • Please continue to send in a towel or blanket each Monday. We will return it on Friday for you to wash it over the weekend. • Book Orders • Book orders will be sent home once a month. You do not have to purchase any books! If you do decide to buy books, please go online to scholastic.com/bookclubs and type in our class activation code.

  10. Thank You For Coming! • My goal for this year is to instill a love of learning in each of my students. I want them to grow both personally and academically throughout the year! Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to teach your child!
