STEM • In GCISD we define STEM -- Science, Technology, Engineering and Math--as a curricular program that integrates the concept of STEM across core content areas and electives where appropriate. Our program has a strong emphasis on engineering and design thinking. • STEM in GCISD provides a rigorous pathway that inspires students to problem solve, innovate, take risks, create, work collaboratively, design, communicate effectively, and take ownership of their learning by making authentic real-world connections through the integration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics across content areas in preparation for future college and career opportunities that will empower them to envision solutions for global issues.

  6. iPads School Expectations • Only download teacher approved apps. • Bring iPad fully charged each day • Chargers should be placed in backpacks everyday • Keep iPads in backpacks before and after school • No use of iPads on bus or in KidzU • Do not change background or lock screen

  8. What Is A Standards-Based Report Card? A standards-based report card is a detailed report to parents every 9 weeks that shows: • The skills and expectations that have been taught during the grading period • The degree to which students have mastered these skills at this point in the year

Revised TEKS & ELAR Materials 19-20 • Piloted and selected by GCISD teachers and feedback from the parent community (SY 2018-2019) • Consistent resources across district for all students • Meets House Bill 3 regulations requiring explicit, systematic phonics program (Fundations/Words Their Way/Palabras a su paso/Fonética)
