The performance of favourite runners at Happy Valley Races has shown a significant improvement over the past five years, with a winning percentage rising from 16% to 26.6%. The placing percentage for these favourites also increased from 48.9% to 52.7%, with over half of the races won by the top three ranked runners. Notably, the top two favourites finishing in the first three places also saw an uptick, from 16.9% to 22.5%. Additionally, many past winners improved their chances, and track bias did not adversely affect the favourites' performances.
