  2. WHAT AND WHY?????? • What does the word chaos mean? • What are rules? • Why do we need rules?

  3. OUR RULES • Come to class prepared to learn. • Respect yourself, others, and the school. • Try your best in everything you do.

  4. ONE SHOE ON THE BLUE This rule applies to every student walking in the halls. You MUST always have ONE shoe on the blue tiles as you walk down the halls.

  5. Arrival to Class • Line up along the lockers, ONE SHOE ON BLUE, and facing forward in a single line. • Quietly wait to enter the room. • Quietly enter the room and proceed directly to your assigned seat so you can begin getting prepared for class. THERE SHOULD BE NO TALKING DURING THIS TIME.

  6. Expectations During Instruction • Please give the teacher your full attention. • Do not talk while the teacher is talking. • Please wait to be recognized by the teacher before you begin speaking. • Do not start assignments until the teacher asks you to begin. • Do not interrupt others when they are asking or answering questions.

  7. Classroom Etiquette • Keep paws and hooves to yourself. • Raise your hand if you have a question or need to get my attention. • Remain in your seat unless you have permission to move around the room. • Do not distract others. • Be polite and respectful to everyone. • Do not touch anything on my desk or go behind my desk unless you have permission.

  8. Noise Whammy!!!! While you are working on classroom assignments, there might be times you need to discuss items with your group members or those sitting near you. You should always keep your voices low so you do not disturb others. If the overall volume in the room is excessive, the class will receive a WHAMMY! After you receive your third WHAMMY, no more talking is permitted. Those violating this rule will serve silent lunch.

  9. Prompt for attention on me • I will say, “Eyes on me!” and raise my hand. You should immediately stop what you are doing, raise your hand and look at me. NO EXCEPTIONS

  10. End of Class Dismissal • I will inform you when it is time for class to come to a close. • I will announce when it is time to pack up to leave. • Put all of your work away and ensure the area around your desk is clean. • We will line up in the room based upon your next class. ELA, Science, and Math. • Students will line up in the room and exit to the right, keeping____________________.

  11. Heading Papers / Homework • The following heading should appear on anything that you will be submitting to the teacher: Name (First and Last) John Doe Today’s Date 8-5-13 Your class period 2nd Period

  12. Turning in Homework / Assignments • Homework should be turned into your assigned classroom basket. • Any homework from the previous day is due at the beginning of class.

  13. Notebook • Taking notes is very important. You should have a notebook & folder or a binder dedicated for your social studies class. • A shelf will be assigned to your class where you can store your notebook IF you do not need to take it home. • It is your responsibility to keep your notebook updated with all of the current material. • Additional copies of any handout will NOT be given. Handouts will be available on my website and can be printed at your expense.

  14. Technology / Internet • NO CELL PHONES/IPODS or similar device will be allowed in the classroom. Tablets and laptops are acceptable. • Use technology appropriately and only when you have been given permission to do so. • If you abuse the use of technology in the classroom, you will be banned from using it in my class.

  15. When a Student is Absent • It is your responsibility to ask the teacher for any handouts from the pervious day. • It is your responsibility to ask a fellow classmate for the assignments assigned. • It is your responsibility to get copies of notes.

  16. School Rules and Policies • All school rules as outlined in your student handbook will be enforced. • Attendance policy will be as defined in your student handbook.

  17. Restroom & Lockers • Restroom breaks will only occur at our scheduled times. • 8:45 • Lunch • 3:20 • Locker breaks will occur only at our scheduled times. • 8:40 (tops will have two minutes / bottoms will have two minutes) Need all materials for periods 1-4. • 1:45 You will need materials for connections and anything that is going home with you that evening.

  18. End of Day Dismissal • Students are expected to remain in their seat until their bus / designated time has been announced. This means you wait in your seat until the group of buses have been announced. • Whenever buses are being called over the speaker, EVERYONE IS TO BE SILENT. • Quietly walk down the hall with…………..
