  2. Gluteus Maximus: extends the thigh • O: Ilium, sacrum, coccyx • I: femur

  3. Adductors: Longus and Magnus • Longus: adducts, flexes, laterally rotates • Magnus: adducts, anterior flexion; posterior extension • O: coxal bone • I: femur

  4. #9 = gracilis Adducts thigh; flexes and medially rotates the leg O: pubis I: tibia

  5. MUSCLES THAT MOVE THE LEG

  6. Quadriceps(4): Rectus femoris; vastus lateralis; vastus medialis; vastus intermedius

  7. Vastus intermedius: under rectus femoris: extends the leg

  8. Hamstrings (3): biceps femoris, semitendinosus, semimembranosus: extension of thigh, flexion of leg

  9. Tibialis Anterior • Dorsiflexion; foot inversion • O: tibia • I: tarsal bones and first metatarsal

  10. Soleus • Plantar flexion • O: tibia and fibula • I: calcaneus
