  2. What is a card catalog? • A card catalog is a way for patrons (people who use the library) to search for materials.

  3. Why do we call it a card catalog? All books used to have a card made for: • Author (who wrote it) • Title (name of the book) • Subject (what it is about) These cards were kept in drawers to thumb through.
